East-West Bus Rapid Transit Shelter Installation Begins

As construction on the East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) progresses, new and innovative shelters are being placed along the route. The shelters will provide lighting for safety and visibility, technology that features real-time arrival signs, and level boarding to assist riders using mobility devices. The first shelter has been placed at Bluemound Rd & 95th St EB (Station 5), pictured above.

Shelters at over eleven stations along the route are scheduled to be placed over the next six weeks.

East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is Milwaukee County’s planned 9-mile regional, modern transit service connecting downtown Milwaukee, Milwaukee’s Near West Side, Marquette University, Wauwatosa and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. Construction began early June 2021 and is scheduled to be complete late 2022 with service anticipated to commence late 2022.
